New Experience for 2009 Coliban Park Kangaroos

The wild kangaroos on the property are exciting to watch as they jump past in large mobs of up to 100’s.Arriving by Helicopter, guests can be on the ground at Coliban Park within 30 minutes maximising precious leisure time.

Duncan and Jess Barber are the hosts for this very special International tourism experience, seen above in the shearing shed, where their raref lock of extra fine merino sheep provide the finest grade fleeces for export.

For the international tourist, Coliban Park has it all, Up close and personal on this working sheep station of almost 10,000 acres, inbound guests are greeted with tea and cake in the formal sitting room of the historic homestead with welcoming chats with the Barber family. Then it’s off for a one on one sheep shearing demonstration and simply stunning wild kangaroo experience. Then a gourmet lunch in the homestead and perhaps some more kangaroo spotting form the helicopter before heading back to Melbourne. It’s unique, very Australian and it’s the real thing, this is more than a tourism visit, this is making new friends in a classic Australian setting.

Cruise Ships circled by their own Passengers

A very entertaining diversion from the 30 min city orbit flight by a great family of Americans. They decided to get our pilot to circle their own ship to get photos from the air. Great idea!, afterwards our transfer vehicle dropped them off at the Melbourne Institution “Pelegrinis” for a great home style Italian lunch. Very Happy Campers indeed! Well i have to say, i reckon this will be the only time i am serenaded by a large contingent from a choir. The esteemed choir members loved their city orbit flights and were in a very jovial mood. Perhaps due to the French Champagne we supplied ! Some of the happy choir members below.

A Stunning Day on the Mornington Peninsula

Echidnas are without doubt one of the most amazing and interesting creatures found on the Mornington Peninsula,

The Echidna (or affectionately known as the Spiny Anteater) is a primitive mammal. It lives in both Australia and New Guinea.

It is a solitary animal that burrows. When it is attacked, the echidna will burrow into the ground or curl itself into a ball using its spines as a method of defence against the predator. The echidna’s spines cover the top of its body. Echidna’s have long sharp claws on their feet, and are approximately 35-50 cms long with a 10cm long tail. Their nose is very sensitive, they use this to find food, then they use their long sticky tongue to catch ants, worms and other such insects. Echidna’s weigh on average between 2 to 7 kilograms.

Female echidna’s lay a single egg in their pouch. After ten days, the egg hatches and a puggle (baby echidna) is born. They are born blind and hairless, and consume milk from a gland within the pouch. After an average of four weeks, the puggle develops sharp spines, and must leave the pouch.

Pilot Guy Maine takes in the fantastic sights of Point Nepean, where there is a very informative tour run by Discovery Attractions (thanks for the great Echidna moments Fraser!) on the ground within the park. A look at the Historic Quarantine Station also surprises. There is a huge community of Echidnas that are very cute, kids will love them.

The Dunes “Cups Classic”

Many thanks to all the staff at The Dunes Golf Links on the Mornington Peninsula and in particular Tim Bateman who ensured the event was a day not to be missed and congratulations to young Croker who took our the event, certainly a name to watch out for on the tour in the years to come.

Melbourne Joy Flights

It’s been a busy month so far with many taking advantage of the great weather to cruise around Melbourne in Style!

and with the great weather comes some of the best views Melbourne has on offer, come fly with us!

Some of the Indian media getting ready to fly over the world famous Melbourne Cricket Ground and it’s a draw in the first test in India!

The only complaint was that we didn’t stay up long enough over the G, to get that extra special photo, we did our best, however the Victoria Police helicopter was on a mission and we don’t get in their way! Still as you see below, some great shots were taken.
